Testing Must Fit Into the Company's Daily Operations and Budget
Seppo is a gamification platform designed for mobile learning and training, born out of the need to provide a new and exciting way to learn. With Seppo, game creators can build motivating gamified learning experiences where players can generate content in various ways.
A growing group of users for Seppo are companies that have realized the benefits of gamification, for example, in onboarding processes and in rolling out strategies and values. Some of Seppo’s clients are also schools. With Seppo, learning and education are gamified from elementary school all the way to university level.
Testing Must Fit Into the Company's Daily Operations and Budget
Product Owner Eeva Myller from Seppo explains that in 2020, a native app for players was launched, along with a revamped user interface aimed at players. Currently, a new browser version of Seppo is in the works, and the user experience is being developed.
As part of this process, it was important to test the functionality of the new version across a wide range of devices. Two testing rounds with Prove have been completed so far—one with the native app and the other with the browser version. It was crucial that the testing could fit smoothly into Seppo’s daily operations.
“It’s important to know in advance the duration and scope of the testing so we can ensure it fits within our budget and doesn't interfere with other work. For instance, the hourly rate of purchased software services can often continue running constantly, but with Prove, the package is so well-conceptualized that there are no surprises,” Myller states.
According to Myller, who is responsible for the product development process at Seppo, Prove is a great partner when testing needs to be structured, targeted, or a broad check-up is needed.
“I found myself taking inspiration from their reporting”
“The test reports and bug descriptions produced by Prove were so good that I found myself taking inspiration for my own work from that kind of structured, concise, and clear reporting,” Myller praises. “I also appreciated Prove’s clear concept with specific steps: initial assessment, kick-off meeting, daily reports, updates on progress, and a final report.”
Myller was also impressed with how Prove handled setbacks. During the second testing round, it turned out that the old product had been tested instead of the environment currently under development.
“The project lead pulled themselves together, made a new plan, and managed to save the situation without delaying our schedule. We could have managed with a longer timeline too, but it was fantastic that everything stayed on schedule,” Myller commends.
